should schedule newborn photos. Most photographers will tell you that these photos should be scheduled within the first two weeks after the little one is born. That may sound crazy to you. After all, you’re a brand new mom that isn’t getting much sleep.
So why do photographers insist on booking newborn sessions within the first two weeks? Do they want to torture fatigued moms? Do they just not understand that the only time you get a chance to rest, a relative calls wanting to come see the new bundle of joy?
It may seem that photographers just don’t understand how worn out you are, but remember that most newborn photographers are parents too. They’ve been there. So what’s their reason for such haste?
You have heard time and time again that “they grow up so fast.” That phrase is most true in those first weeks. Babies grow like crazy and become more alert every day.
After two weeks, your baby won’t be nearly so sleepy. Take a moment to think about all the newborn photos you’ve seen. Which ones make your heart melt? Was it the wide eyed devil or the tiny sleepy mound of wrinkles?
Your photographer’s goal is not to torture you, but rather to capture the new, tiny, sleepy baby you will always recall bringing home. When you look back at those photos, you’ll find yourself saying “I can’t believe you were so small.”
